New xfree config issue...
I'm trying to run startx - and getting the following message:

You must provide a "Screen" section in XF86Config for at least one of the following graphics drivers: vga16, mono

Fatal server error:
No configured graphics devices

System is Debian 3.3, SVGA server installed. In the XF86Config section, there is only a Screen section for the SVGA server, no section for vga16 or mono. Any thoughts?
New Errr.
Its been a while.

see if you've got..

Xconfigurator

If you don't, then you'll need to run

xf86config

(should be in /usr/X11R6/bin for both)

xf86config will take a few times through before you get used to it. You can control-C out, too. :)

New That did it.
Now I just need to figure out how to get out of 640x480... ^_^
New If you've got more than 1 screen...
control-alt + and - will cycle.

If you go into a mode the monitor won't handle, and might overrun it, control-alt-backspace will kill X.

How many bitplanes are you running?

(you can start it with.. er.. been a couple years... um.. "startx --bpp32"? (or 16 or 24).
