Authorities say a guard at a federal detention center in Tallahassee started a gunfight that left him and one federal agent dead and a prison officer wounded.

The FBI says the guard opened fire as investigators came to arrest him and five other guards this morning on corruption charges. An indictment alleges the guards brought unidentified contraband into the part of the prison where female inmates were held and sold it or exchanged it for sex with the prisoners or the inmates' silence.
