Island Moon
Traditional from Scotland. More specifically from the Hebrides Islands IIRC.
This is one of my favorites.
Tonight, there is a restlessness in the wind There's a small rain, that has salt in it from the sea. And the white breakers, wander in the dark.
Low down, in the west, a waning moon calls to the sea, Sweeping back the flood, from the black points of land. Perhaps the moon, she's smiling for you in the far country.
But the skies there, they're not island skies. You will not remember, the salt smell of the sea. Or the little rain.

Re: Well...
That's quite a stretch...not bad! Although I'm not sure I necessarily agree with htat interpertation. I interpreted it as our protagonist has been aspiring to be more than his (or her) roots and background would suggest that s/he would or could be, and that s/he has just arrived at that new plateau, and is looging around and reveling in the new, lofty vantage point.
YMMV

The Skye Boat Song
Traditional.
There are two connections. First of all it is about Bonnie Prince Charlie. Secondly the chorus includes, Carry the lad that's a-born to be king/Over the sea to Skye. So after that song, my bonnie (prince Charlie) lies over the ocean!
BTW I've felt bad all of this time bringing up songs that nobody else probably knew and just saying, "Traditional". I'm glad to see someone else doing it.
Cheers, Ben

My Johnny was a Shoemaker
Traditional, done by Steeleye Span.
There are an amazing number of traditional songs with "John" or "Johnny" in the title.
