Al-Queda has had a big problem in Iraq because there are so many insurgent groups with differing goals. It appears part of the violence between insurgent groups in the past year was Al-Queda trying to set it self as the dominant organization, something they seem to have failed at. In response, Al-Queda seems to have redirected some of their activity out of Iraq. Iraq is too important and hitting US targets too easy for them to leave entirly, but they are putting more money and time into non-Iraq operations. In light of that, most of what appears in the letter makes sense. Of course, if Marlow thinks a group of suicide bombers are going to cut and run because the going get rough, he is being more delusional then usual. Jay
