New Happy Loyalty Day, gang!

Seriously, I had no idea this holiday existed. At first I thought it was some invention of the current administration, but then Wikipedia tells me that it got its start back in 1930.

I just found out about it yesterday. Did I miss a memo or something?

Anyway, what are y'all planning for YOUR Loyalty Day celebration?

Personally, since I had no time to plan I'll just have to make up for it next year.

Today is also 3rd anniversary of "Mission Accomplished".
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. (Herm Albright)
New Weird.
I remember Bush (the current) announcing it a few years ago, but I can't find anything about it - at the time I was under the impression that this was a "new" holiday...

New goes back to the anti commie days
May first was a wobblie biggie, pro union/workers. The Biz decided that was unpatriotic

New There is a Loyalty Day. There has always been a Loyalty Day.
There is a Loyalty Day. There has always been a Loyalty Day. That you cannot find anything from last year is the result of a conspiracy by Bin Laden.

Who invented that name? I thought 4th July was for the loyalty bit.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
- Mark Renton, Trainspotting.
New Made an official holiday by Ike

per [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyalty_Day|Wikipedia].

But though it's a legal holiday, it's not a federal holiday.

The depth of committment is breathtaking.
