New Scrap /dev/ go devfs
There's one way to solve the problem.
Go straight into devfs.
It's actually quite stable, and not only that has quite a few nifty features.
No more flat files taking up precious inodes :)
New Caldera engineers say "use caution".
Their testing shows reiserfs results in data corruption under heavy load. The implication was they meant "damned heavy load", but data corruption nontheless.

New Early 2.4.x kernels
I've heard of this problem with early 2.4.x kernels. Nobody's reported it with 2.2.x, and it's fixed in current 2.4.x kernels. I've had no problems in six months under 2.2.18.
