... break the LCD display or something if someone leaves one near you and it goes off accidentally without them knowing. At the very least, key the case. Inconsiderate assholes. They deserve to get their stuff broken.

which pretty well lets me know they don't really care about it, do they. But I think the best solution is to just slip it into a nice big padded bag to muffle the sound and head for the door.
