I note that those pictures are not so bad though - they really became gross when the sore intersects the intestine. Mixing blood, pus and shit in an infected injury leads to lots of problems. Plus I am given to understand that pictures do not do full justice to the problem. They really come home to you when you have to operate on one. The problem isn't having to reach inside and scoop out the infection. It is that you smell what you are removing...
