Run, get out while you can?
Three hundred years after the Age of Enlightenment and an industrilised nation still believes that morality has to come from high priests and be over centuries old. For crying out load, that country needs to put more effort into education. Next thing you'll be telling me is they believe in some creation myth instead of scientific theory. No, wait!

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin? - Mark Renton, Trainspotting.

At least they're not drooling, puking, speaking in tongues and handling snakes.

The answers in polls depend on how the questions are asked.
[link|http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_comp.htm|Religious Tolerance]: Two international surveys were conducted during 1991 and 1993 by the International Social Survey Program (ISSP). This is currently located at the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago.
Seven questions were asked in 1991: God: I know God exists and I have no doubts about it Afterlife: I definitely believe in life after death Bible: The Bible is the actual word of God and it is to be taken literally, word for word. A yes answer implies that the subject believes in the inerrancy of the Bible. Devil: I definitely believe in the Devil. Hell: I definitely believe in Hell. Heaven: I definitely believe in Heaven. Miracle: I definitely believe in religious miracles.
Results are shown below. Appended to the list are:
the results of a survey showing the percentage of persons who said yes to the following question:
In your opinion, how true is this? ...Human beings developed from earlier species of animals.. The results are a measure of belief in human evolution, and disbelief in creation science.

Some observations * All numbers are in percentages. * since 1944, the Gallup Poll has been asking Americans whether they believe in God or a universal spirit. The answers have always been 94% or more affirmative. These numbers have been so widely reported in academic articles, and the media that they have been almost etched in stone. However, the ISSP results are under 63%. The wide gap is probably due to the different wording of the question asked. The ISSP requires a degree of certainty of belief that is not present in the Gallup Poll. This shows that many Americans who believe in God are not that certain about their conviction. [...] The US is still more religious than many countries, but not to the 91% level that's claimed in South Dakota. Of course it may be that 91% of the people in South Dakota are practicing Christians, but it didn't look that way when we visited the Black Hills a few years ago. Cheers, Scott. Not to mention the outright lies
Surveys of Americans say that about 40% report going to church at least once a week. Numbers derived from actual church attendance figures say that it's closer to 20%.
