A friend just tipped me on about 60 C/Oracle/Unix shell scripting positions in Plano Texas for a major employer there.

Plano is a northern suburb of Dallas, very nice part of town. Cost of living is very reasonable.

I put my name in, but it's a very large "Electronic Data Systems" company, so they probably have Architects and Management to spare.

I have an offer from another software company that I am supposed to answer by Tuesday, but it requires travel. Given the level of what they're offering, I'm probably taking it and won't bother this one.

But it wouldn't be bad to get 10% more and not travel either.
