We've just had a major reorg.
I've been refocused more on specific clients,
and pulled off infrastructure. Not that I've been
doing infrastructure, recently, I've been trying
to get out, but now it's OFFICIAL.
The new hire (who I recommended, based on interview, previously
unknown) starts soon, possibly Monday.
I've written an 11 page history of the 'room', what
systems run what, and why. What decisions were made,
what tradeoffs were considered, where I didn't have
a chance to do things right, and little tidbits like:

\tSun boxes take a LONG time to boot. There is at
least 5 minutes of pre-monitor diagnostics where it will be
totally dark. Do not panic for at least 20 minutes. When
rebooting a Sun box, get into the habit of using the '-v'
switch to get full messages. If a box has been configured
to probe all luns, and the sd.conf file has many listed,
is can take an hour to boot. Be prepared for extended
down time, and to not attempt to boot if there is some type
of deadline approaching. You do not want project managers
camped at your door during the boot.
\tJoin the Sun admin mailing list. Read it always.
Docs.sun.com is your friend. We purchase our Sun systems
from GE Access, and their tech support is usually very
good. Don't be afraid to use it.

Is this a good idea?
