I'm basing my opinion on this:
Signor Cascioli, author of a book called The Fable of Christ, began legal proceedings against Father Righi three years ago after the priest denounced Signor Cascioli in the parish newsletter for questioning Christ\ufffds historical existence.
If you're going to use a position of authority to denounce me, you better believe I'm going to challenge you to prove what you say.

And FWIW I think "abuse of popular credulity" sounds like it was passed specifically to deal with situations like this. Scary that it could pass in Italy but not here.
