New Iraqi election objections step up
[link|http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/MAC149443.htm|Reuters Alertnet]
Sunni Arab and secular political groups in Iraq formed a united front on Wednesday to demand a rerun of last week's election, alleging massive fraud, and said they might otherwise boycott the new parliament to cripple it.

"There was a meeting ... and we all agreed to contest and reject the results of the election," Thaer al-Naqib, an aide to secular former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, told Reuters.

"We want the Electoral Commission dissolved and the election rerun across Iraq," he said. "We will take to the streets if necessary. We might even not take up our seats in the new parliament and so any new government would be illegitimate."

Actual rerunning of the election is pretty much out of the question. But the US may put pressure on the winning party to share more power to satisfy some of these complaints. Particularly if it looks like the Sunni groups might actually drop out of the new government.

New Strange bedfellows, indeed
So lemme get this straight: Iraqi sunnis, who are supporting, if not fomenting, the "insurgency" are now our friends, because they are the natural opposition to a Shiite theocracy in Iraq, which we said we wouldn't form or cause to form, because it is the antithesis of a democracy that we pledged to provide to the Middel East in general and Iraq in particular, after we found there were no WMDs in Iraq, which is why we originally invaded Iraq, after it was learned that no al-Qaida (remember them?) representatives really met with Saddam, which is why we invaded Iraq to overthrow him...?

Is it any wonder why my head hurts?

New Too complicated. That's why we need
'Faith-Based' foreign policy.

Remember, God is telling W what to do... Or is that Cheney, using a Ronco 'Mr. Microphone®'?

New "Hey, good looking, I'll be back to pick you up later!"

New You see?
There's an actual use for Boolean.. outside of IT, after all.

(Even if the final instruction always is, never mind IF THEN - just do it OR ELSE.)
