mad max moment finally happens with my saturn
went to a luncheon, heard a valve rattle and the car died in the parking lot. Went in, ate came out and it started up. The timing chain was banging harder on the aluminum cover, doing about 35 trying to get the carcass home when a LOUD bang accompanied by a roiling cloud of oil smoke came out from under the hood. Opened hood and saw the rod connecting the number one cylinder poking out of the block. Called wife to pick me up, emptied the vehicle, took off licence plate and will be ressurecting the van again this weekend. thanx, bill

Damn man
No using it to fumigate for mosquitoes this summer, then.
That sucks. Maybe Ross is right? Kryptonite for cars?

Mad Max?
Did ya run someone down? Did ya run somone over? Fire a crossbow into someones eyeball? Run an escape route past a bunch of badasses? Er, no. You had a piece of shit car die on you. Shit happens. So, unless you have a leather outfiut with a stainless steel kneebrace, I'd hesitate to call this a Mad Max Moment. More like a shit happens moment.

Hmm, trying to remember ...
Nah, that was about the gas can on the passenger seat with the hose through the firewall. Like silverlock said, that was just a shit happens moment.

broke down and bought new car
[link|http://www.automotive.com/2005/12/kia/rio/photos/index.html|http://www.automotiv...photos/index.html] kia rio 5 speed 4 banger 12k including tax, tags, docs, delivery and 3 years of financing with $500.00 down. 10yr 100k mile power train warranty and 5 year 50K "mostly" bumper to bumper warranty and rust. With luck engine will still be warrantied after payoff. Took 3 trips between Kia and ford dealers to get the numbers down. Still have to deal with the spot delivery agreement but I already told them if the deal changes its a 5 day rental with 20 free miles a day. Its coming back, so they assured me the deal goes thru. thanx, bill
