New Well I'm here
high above it all watching late night traffic on the Bay Bridge. If'n you feel compelled...its the Mandarin on Sansome.

New Re: Well I'm here
Ahem, while my plastic-top radiator is weeping only a bit.. at top seam / and the replacement + hoses are here; swap not done yet, and - it's Cold outside (yeah, you Joisyites can sneer at CA def'n of cold. OTOH I Love shovelling snow: I can watch it for hours.)

So am forced to be Conservative (how could that ever be Wrong?) and ask self: can I waste another wish, with Cthulhu? - or have I used up my quota for the yuga.

Otra vez, then :-)

PS If'n ya want to eschew the Trendy for a bit of local history, [link|http://www.coastnews.com/restaurant-guide/downtown-financial.htm| Tadich Grill] is in that bailiwick [still.]

Haven't been there in years; couldn't afford to dine there when I lived in SF, but got round tuit subsequently. Kinda has that old SF spirit, from before there were MBAs (but a time when all the local movers/shakers had skipped the very same ethics courses, too - prescience.)

Ummm - there's also John's Grill for a bit'o Hammett and spirit of .. the stuff that dreams are made on.
Can't report on its current cuisine.

Bon appetit!

New ah, the Tweezer Tower!
I know it well. It appears you may have come and gone to our fair city here (who was that masked man? he left a silver coaxial cable) before I looked in.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New T'was the place
Very nice digs for the likes of me.

I will likely return, however I know not when.

New SFO - Places to eat....
It's been a 18 months now...

But you might try Lori's Diner, a 50's style restaurant.
In and Out Burger.
There's a really good Italian place on the first floor of the Drake Hotel on Sutter?
Walk through Chinatown over to Little Italy on Broadway.
Steps of Rome
There's a Chinese Place we went to on the 2nd story, but I can't remember the name now.
The restaurant in the Galleria Park Hotel (also on Sutter) is good, too.
The bar there is busy in the evening.
There are a lot of fast food places in the Galleria, 3rd level.

That's all I can remember from my visit 18 months ago.

New Meeeeeeeeemmmrrreeeeeeeeees ...
Walk through Chinatown over to Little Italy on Broadway.
That's where I found the best cheesesteak on the west coase. Place was wallpapered with old issued of The Bulletin. I was like a man who just crossed the desert and ... wait, I was a man who just crossed the desert.

New Ah the Drake - FWIW I will be in SF Jan 5-9ish
I used to drop about $100 for dinner (dining solo no less) weekly at the Drake when living in the neighborhood.

I love that place.

I have a european friend who is hosting a booth at MacWorld in SF and will be in town to visit with him at that time.

Mark you calendars.

New Koi Palace
if you've got a car or (maybe) BART connection AND money - it's in Daly City and is a bit pricey, but my wife says it's very, very good.
