New As a matter of fact...
...going for a grade level upgrade was suggested to me, not the other way around. At less than 6 months in I thought that might be a bit...presumptuous of me. Very interesting to have your boss infer to you that he considers you an equal, not a "direct report".

And I got a small raise without asking. It really was an uplifting conversation.
