I read somewhere that flat panel mfg capacity

It's a typical feast-or-famine high-tech thing.

A lot of companies got in the flat panel display business and are fighting for market share. Margins must be tiny on those things. But predicting the market growth is a very difficult problem. [link|http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=21096|TheInquirer].
