New Update on progress and a question
I have given up on the single ip address from qwest, gotten a refund for the thing and then ordered the block of 5 - which uses a more traditional configuration strategy.

Last night I successfully configured the actiontec (which is total cack) to operate in transparent bridge mode, then configured the linksys to do the auth using pppoe, entered my details and the linksys succesfully assumed the address assigned to the router in my block. So far so good. I then set up port forwarding on 80 to a machine with a lan-side static ip address and shazam, hits to the router resulted in my web page appearing. Visited network solutions to change the ip address bound to my domain name and all was working when I hit the hay last night. YAY!

This morning from work, hitting the address times out. Guess I have more troubleshooting to do.

Question time: I am assigned a block of 5 ip addresses plus a router address. In the past, I have simply relied on using the router address as the primary ip address and set up port forwarding to my chosen machine for the couple ports I care to export (http, https, ssh).

If I were to want to use one of the other addresses, how would I go about doing it? Do I just give the lan-side machine a globally visible address and assume that the linksys will just pass it through, or do I need to set up some kind of manual NAT or what? Keep in mind that I only want a couple ports visible on this machine so setting it up as the dmz is not my idea of a good time.

New When I last did this . . .
. . I was using a Cayman DSL router with a 4-port switch built in, so I had one switch port going to the Linksys firewall and then to my inside switch, another switch port going directly to the inside switch, so the switch was carrying both 192.168.200.n traffic and traffic for the fixed IPs.

Right now I just have a one port bridge, so what I'd do is put a cheap 5-port switch between it and the Linksys - plug exposed server into that switch. Same thing, really.
