The criticism stands, and is as follows:
QT used to be licensed like this:
Windows: !Free, must buy developer licence for all use.
Linux: Free, under GPL licence. All QT-using code is GPL.
Now it's licenced like this:
Windows: Free or commercial. If you start free, you must continue free, and it's GPL. If you want to develop commercial, you must buy commercial before commencing development.
Linux: Free, under GPL licence. All QT-using code is GPL.
The GPL is a BAD LICENCE to use for libraries, because it forces the linking code to also be GPL. If you licence your library under the LGPL, the linking code can be non-GPL. (And before you scream "Freedom!" that also means no Artistic, no X11, no MPL, no BSD licenced code either).
Basically, TrollTech failed to fix the problem, and they most certainly did NOT acquiesce to the community.
