Wanted to install the latest Abiword, because I heard it has a plugin for a grammar checker and I was curious to see how well it worked.
I downloaded the autopackage for Abiword, and during the install it said it couldn't find link-grammar, so I should install that first. Ok, so it's not so much a plugin as it is integration with another tool. That's cool.
But getting this damn thing installed is a pain in the ass. The readme that comes with the damn tarball was obviously written for an earlier release and never updated, because it tells you to type "make" in the directory to compile the source, but THERE IS NO MAKEFILE included with the distribution. You can ./configure to CREATE a makefile, and THEN type make like the readme says, but that won't produce the FILE the readme says will appear. And just having the thing sitting in your home directory doesn't help, autopackage won't see it.
So I have no idea how to get the latest version of abiword to install on my machine, because I need to install lib-grammar first, and I have no idea how to install lib-grammar on my machine...
