Senator Kennedy issued the following statement in response to Wal-Mart's decision to call for an increase in the minimum wage:
"I was pleased to hear that Wal-Mart CEO, H. Lee Scott, Jr. called on Congress to raise the minimum wage. When even the head of Wal-Mart, one of the most anti-worker companies in the world, says that a minimum wage of $5.15 an hour is out of date, we know it\ufffds long past time for an increase.
The CEO of Walmart just called for an increase in the mininum wage. This was the only link I could find that mentioned the request. I guess they figure the increase in their cost will be more then offset by the increase in what their customers will have to spend.
