Avoiding screen saver timeout
How? Mine is set via corporate to kick of in 10 minutes and require a password.
Except I use it for my email only, glancing over as I code on Linux.
Which means I have to type in my password MANY times a day to check email.
Not allowed to forward to another account. Hate the web interface.
Anyway to make it think I'm active and not trigger the screen saver?

Probably not an option, but hey....

Play something in Windows Media Player
When Windows media player is active, that is considered user activity and screensaver is not called. This can be blocked also but requires a specific Group Policy Object to be enabled.

How about from google answers?
[link|http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=32779|Seems to have a buncha solutions] that do still work.
There is 2 that I believe will work for you, the VB snippet and/or the registry .reg merge.

D'Oh. :-) Also, that answer has a busted link.
[link|http://members.fortunecity.com/cdmadness/turniton.html|Turn It On] is a working link. I haven't tried it myself, but I've been looking for something like that for a while. (I use the Marqee screen saver to leave notes while I'm away from my desk, but I'd like a trivial way to change the text and activate it without clicking around so much.)
Actually, it seems impossible to find the executable anywhere, so it's still a dead link. :-(
MS also has [link|http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/tips/liu1.mspx|this] tip for activating a screen saver of your choice with 2 clicks. Unfortunately, there's no simple way to access the properties to change the parameters with this method.
I guess I'll have to get off my butt and figure out how to poke at the registry with Python.
[edit:] [link|http://www.softpedia.com/get/Authoring-tools/Screensaver-Tools/Marquee-Launcher.shtml|Marquee Launcher] does what I want. Why it requires 775 kB to do it is beyond me... It works pretty well.
Cheers, Scott.

Well, it is from 2002, or 3 centuries ago in Internet time.
