Two basic reasons
One story that has been mentioned in the press is that one or more of the reporters that did mention Plame got the information from another reporter, who obviously could have been Miller. Fitzgerald also has a strong motivation to to track every chain of communication through which Plame's name might have been mentioned, if only to eliminate them as possible sources of the outing.
Recent articles on the investigation suggest Fitzgerald may be going deeper, trying to track how the information moved around the White House. And for that he has to pin down who knew and when the knew. Miller was either the first reporter who was given the information, or close to it, and thus is well placed to help pin down when the information was actually leaked.
Until we hear from Fitzgerald this is all conjecture though. He has kept a very tight lid on the investigation. Most leaks seem to be from lawyers of reporters, who obviously constitute a very biased source of information.
