Welcome to IWETHEY!

New The pity is that "We, the People" do not care.
And so we get the government we so richly deserve. The majority in this country deserve this winter, deserve to be enslaved, in short, deserve everything that is going to happen to us.

War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength.
Vote Republican.

bcnu,
Mikem

It would seem, therefore, that the three human impulses embodied in religion are fear, conceit, and hatred. The purpose of religion, one might say, is to give an air of respectibility to these passions. -- Bertrand Russell
New I don't think Jimmy Carter had a double meaning, but...
(posted a few months after the 'accountability moment')

I always got a smile out of Jimmy Carter's title for his book:

"A government as good as its people" (Now unavailable)

I wonder if he worried about the double entendre? We now have exactly that type of government.
New Ben Franklin had that number, though
.. allegedly part of the "If you can keep it!" reply to someone [with a pen?], outside Constitutional Convention.

Something like, "... it will last? function? for a time - until the corruption of the people causes it to fail."
I see I should pin that one down better, anon.

Are we all That predictable? [rhetorical]

New Speak for yourself bucko.
There's something I believe in just as strongly as a hand waving, tongues speaking, snake kissing pentacostal born-again believes in the literal word of Pat Robertson, er..., the Bible.

The sheep can wake up.

George W. Bush and his PNAC handlers sent the US into Iraq with lies. I find myself rethinking my opposition to the death penalty.

--Donald Dean Richards Jr.
New While the observation belongs elsewhere,
but not, even, in our 'metaphysics' forum - usually:

There have been / are many intelligent folks, schools of folks even? who maintain that:
many people go through an entire life .. not. quite. ever 'F'ully awake!

(And virtually every one of us who ever heard such an outlandish Idea! the first time) said: Bullshit!, why that's ___ un think-

ummm
waitaminnut...

Well, anyway - the thesis could explain how, in 1005 or 2005 - an entire mass of people, even with quadrillions of transistor-assisted 'sensors' and millions of Authority-figures, could ___

(I neither deny nor assert the applicability)

New I didn't say "all of us." I said, "the majority."
