It was too late to set things right in Iraq from the very start. Because the people that planned and launched the invasion where not concerned with setting things right, they where concerned with who would have power in Iraq afterwards and not much else.
I might have supported an invasion if I really thought it was for humanitarian reasons and there was a real plan for rebuilding the country afterwards. Iraq had neither.
I'm still not 100% sure exactly why we did invade Iraq, but I am sure that neither WMDs or freeing the citizens where serious concerns. And what little planning for reconstruction was done before the invasion mostly consisted of deciding which pro-buisness policies would be imposed on Iraq.
