Interview Thursday AM
REALLY wanting to escape where I'm at. This would be a complete career change. Not an IT job, Quality Engineering Manager in a manufacturing firm. Much better pay, very close to home (~10 min drive), and precisely three blocks from my wife's office.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow

Went well
I felt like the interview went very well. Talked with a lady from HR for 1/2 hour, then an hour with the VP/Business Unit Manager I'd be working for. He said next step is him getting together with the HR person and reviewing notes, then a callback for a second round of interviews with the other two Business Unit Managers and the staff that'd be reporting to me.
Here's to hoping for that call back!

Nice to hear
Mine went tolerably well, which means I don't think they wrote me off but nor do I think I impressed them that much. I've already got another interview with another company Tuesday that sounds like a better fit anyway.
The job market is lot better then it was last time I was looking for work. This time within 3 weeks of putting my resume on Monster I've already had more then 9 phone calls or emails from reqruiters. Last time I was going weeks between contact. Part of that is probably that I'm closer to Philadelphia this time, which puts me in a larger pool, but I don't think that can account for all of the difference.
