Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Heartfelt thanks
To Bill and Rita Patient, who have been the hosts with the mosts for the past 3 days in fine, fine style; Joanna and I have wanted for nothing and it'll be (sort of) a shame when we have to leave to go look at the Really Big Place (NYC).

In fact, thanks to all who attended the party; it was a real pleasure to meet you all and and REAL pleasure to be able to talk so bloody fast that Barry "Sir, you're being too noisy in my pub at 10.30 on a Friday night" Roomberg couldn't understand me :-)

Highlights:

  • Box is ubercooldude #1. I love y'all, but he's from North Shields, see.

  • Sausage and gravy on a biscuit from Wawa's at 7AM on Sunday morning. Breakfast of champions.

  • The minor-league (Camden Riversharks vs. Atlantic City Surf, Sharks won 11-10 but let it go to ratshit in the 7th, conceding 6 runs, and should have won by a much greater margin; there was an iffy double-play in the 1st and the pitching was uniformly cack. See, I'm starting to understand this game). The atmosphere and facilities were excellent, and I shall endeavour to catch another ball game next time I'm this side of the pond. Joanna is unlikely to agree :-)

  • Ben. Yeah, I know he plays a Perl-fu master on here, but we had a really nice day on Sunday and a very pleasant evening in Philly, with no mention of Perl at all. He knows loads about loads, and gave us plenty of really good ideas about what to see/do in NYC. Top bloke, you should buy him beer if you meet him.

  • Greg, laughing. If you've heard it, you'll understand.

  • Everything else in no particular order, basically.

Lowlights: None, apart from the 34 degree (C) heat and 60-70% humidity in Philly on Friday. I didn't like that much.

So, to summarise:

Thanks beyond imagining to Bill and Rita (and Courtney, for the loan of her room)
See you all (maybe) next year, deffo the year after that.

New I can't imagine opening my doors to a finer couple...
You are most welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed (or even if you just lie >really well< about your enjoying) the weekend.

You both are welcome again at any time.

New that is a huge compliment
the rest of us get the dungeon of poisonous rumbling gas, and strange seismic sounds that are akin to the wall between the hyenas and the lions at the zoo with whistling marmots acompanying them :-)
thank Rita again for me,

Before I let the afterglow fade too much...
I would like to thank Bill and Rita for a memorable event. Critter and I had the time of our lives. It was the first time in almost a decade that we got to do "grownup things" without the kids. The food was delicious, the beverages most satisfying and the company stimulating (on many levels ;) ) I'm still waiting for the pictures of the backrubs on the front porch.

So, I raise a glass to Bill and Rita for their hospitality. And if you ever find yourselves in Texas, our door is always open to you.

(and to anyone else who attended who just might be passing through.)

Peace,
Amy

New A general announcement from the SO
Rita genuinely thanks everyone who came to the event...including those spouses and significant others who are not regular board participants. For those who brought their s.o....thank you and them for coming and enjoying our "little tradition".

She has committed (for those who were giving serious grief) to actually trying to spend more time relaxing and enjoying everyone's company. I reserve any and all comment related to the above statement. Those of you who understand that reservation will also understand that this is a major undertaking for my wife..to not worry about the food, drink, guests, kids towels etc... and actually sit and chill for a while. I, too, have a tendency to bounce around quite a bit..but since I'm on the grill I am at least a bit more accessible to everyone.

Anyway.

Thanks one and all for another successful bash. We'll do it again next year, no matter where we may be at the time.

New Cool!
It's frustrating to have to wait so long to sit down and party with the birthday girl! (Not that I don't have fun in the meantime, as is probably apparent by my incoherency by the time she gets to relax)
