Karl Rove may get nailed as Plame leaker!
[link|http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000972841|Editor and Publisher] Now that Time Inc. has turned over documents to federal court, revealing who its reporter, Matt Cooper, identified as his source in the Valerie Plame/CIA case, speculation runs rampant on the name of that source. Lawrence O'Donnell, senior MSNBC political analyst, now claims that at least two sources have confirmed that the name is--top White House mastermind Karl Rove. If this turns out to be true it will be huge. The Plame leak is one of those mistakes that can bring down anybody. It's obviously wrong and illegal while still simple enough to explain to anybody. Not big at all.
Neither ethics nor the law apply to Republicans. This will pass with barely a ripple.

It would seem, therefore, that the three human impulses embodied in religion are fear, conceit, and hatred. The purpose of religion, one might say, is to give an air of respectibility to these passions. -- Bertrand Russell

Not entirely sure about that, Andrew
Next to treason, unmasking one of our Dear Federal Agents is one of the most heinous crimes you can commit under this new NewWorld order. And I can't even count the number of Dems (and Independents) who would love to have the scalp of Her Karl on their mantlepiece. If it is Der Puppetteer who was responsible, he will go down. It will be messy, but he will go down.

His lawyers have already responded with . . .
. . "He talked, but didn't tell". It could get messy all right, but it'll be the bystanders who go down.

There were two shopping the name around
The first was revealed back in August 04. A federal judge yesterday canceled a contempt-of-court order against Time magazine and one of its reporters, Matthew Cooper, after Cooper was interviewed by Justice Department prosecutors investigating who leaked the identity of a covert CIA operative to journalists.
Officials at Time said Cooper, who had been threatened with jail time for refusing to respond to a grand jury subpoena, gave a deposition Monday about his conversations with a single anonymous source -- I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, chief of staff for Vice President Cheney -- after Libby waived Cooper's responsibility to keep their conversations on the topic confidential. Time officials said Libby was the only source of Cooper's that special counsel prosecutors asked about. [link|http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28286-2004Aug24.html|Link]

It'll be revealing if . . .
. . this whole investigation just sort of fades away and important questions are never asked. I wouldn't be really surprised if that happened.
