Welcome to IWETHEY!

New dws' "100 characters" comment is about golf
Golf is the art of writing programs with as few "strokes" as possible. For instance a program to print all of the permutations of 12345, each on a seperate line, might be:
\nperl -le'map/(.).*\\1/||print,glob"{1,2,3,4,5}"x5'\n

I've..been known to play in the past. :-)

Cheers,
Ben
I have come to believe that idealism without discipline is a quick road to disaster, while discipline without idealism is pointless. -- Aaron Ward (my brother)

No thanks on that.

My niece had a huge blowup with her dad, about it being wrong for me to help.

This is NOT homework - this is a paid gig! And she is currently VERY subsidised by her dad, my blind brother, so she's not THAT proud.

Her brother, OK, since he knows less than her, but me, BAD!

I called her and told her I just spent the last hour writing comments, not code, and I'd really appreciate if she could do me the favor to review what I wrote. She does not have to use it, but it'll make me feel better if she at least reads and give me feedback on it. Make an old man happy. Humor me.

Of course, in the cover email I explained how it'll run in about 20 seconds based on my test data, and it is hopefully generic enough (all command line driven, handles fixed, csv, and tab, error checks and logs out the wazzoo). And, that I've never actually fully run it, so it is up to her to determine if it works, and possibly fix it.

Hopefully it was enough of a teaser that she makes use of it and learns a bit.

             Yep, that's what I'd do - (tuberculosis)

But I can't help but think that one of his primary functions is to serve as a warning to others.
