Mine too
While I was in Spokane. It will probably be getting even more down time as I prepare for my big move.

I've dropped out. Boinc is too rude.
It pegs my processor at 100% and won't let go. Screw that.

That's what it's supposed to do.
On my machine, it's pegged at 100%. But it's reniced such that other processes can preempt it for cycles any time they want.

I did so when I set it up.
About two weeks ago it started not allowing other processes any cpu time. I'm not going to futz with it. If they come out with a client that keeps the settings I give it I might reconsider.

If you haven't updated your BOINC client recently - 5.10.13
[link|http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php|BOINC download]. The latest released version, 5.10.13, seems a bit more system friendly. It lets you specify a maximum CPU load that you want it to take. The algorithm is a bit coarse (it's a time average, not an instantaneous maximum limit), but it works.
Cheers, Scott.
