New Official: Microsoft security flaws to be profit center.
Microsoft has announced it's OneCare comprehensive antivirus, spyware and PC maintenance suite to be offered as a subscription service (price not yet established). They'll be rolling it out to 60,000 employees immediately for testing and hope to have it on the market by the end of the year.

Symantec's response: "Customers will be able to decide the best product to suit their needs". Translation: "We are toast".

New Jeez. I was just gonna post about this.
No market big enough for M$. They want it *ALL*.

Just like they did for many many many other product lines from people that provided valueadd.

They have to be erm stopped!

SYmantec, NAI, F-Prot, AdAware, Spybot... pushed out of the market. Trounced by Windows OneCare.

New Yeahbut - my heart ain't gonna bleed much for Symantec.

New I dunno
Do you really expect anyone here (all 709 of us at posting time) to use YAN Micros~1 product, especially one that is supposed to fix the problems of their own creation? Even those (e.g. Peter) wh are unabashed Windows fans? I don't.

(Besides: what's that old saw..."How can you expect solutions from the same folks who created the problemns?" or something like that.)

I'll sit back and watch...and retain my SpyBot S&D, AVG antivirus, Zone alarm, AdAware...and keep Windows update disabled, thankyewverymuch!

New How could I use YAN Micros~1 product?

New You're talking 709 out of how many millions?

New He was cranky for being Tigerless for so long...
New Aren't protection rackets illegal?
This isn't even a stretch to call it extortion. Anyone know a lawyer with some free time who wants to make a name for himself?
