Homeland security requires that all dashboards auto reset upon receipt of signal from squad car, negating any evidence that the dashboard had malfunctioned.

Also required by homeland security is that the dashboard automatically shuts down the vehicle when signal is received. Of course, all vehicles in a 10km radius would also be shutdown.
