I gather this has something to do with some Linux writer or something?
Y is this not in Penguin forum?

It's a little bigger than that . .
She's been a rabid supporter of SCOX in the multi-billion lawsuits against/by IBM, Daimler Chrysler, Autozone, Novell and Red Hat. Beyond her usual distorted "facts" and inuendo she stepped way over the line of journalistic ethics.

Yes and Pamela Jones of Groklaw...
Maureen O'Gara tried a character Assassination. And Wrote here home address, her phone number, Mother's Nursing home... Pictures of PJ house... etc.
Look here for Pamela Jones word on this (which is limited, as she is considering a lawsuit)

It is busy, with SCO stooping to such tactics it has seemed to back fire on them.

My reason for not penguinizing this news item
was that this is a case of a really bad (so-called) professional journalist getting smacked down. It's truly a pleasure to see, and WAAAAY overdue for our industry. What did she do? [link|http://linuxtoday.com/infrastructure/2005050900926OPBZ|from Brian Proffit, Linux Today] "The information revealed in the O'Gara article paints a vile picture of Pamela Jones, both in its tone and in its blatant emphasisis of Jones' age and religion. As if that matters one whit.
I do not bring forth this article to endorse it in any way, shape, or form. I condemn it. It is full of slander and malice. With the publication of phone numbers, addresses and (in the LinuxBusinessNews version of the story) photographs of homes and family members, it is clearly designed to intimidate Jones into silence. Not as easy as all that; not if you want to do it *right*.
That would require finding out who their advertisers are, and informing *them* that you are going to boycott *them* as long as they continue advertising there.
If you don't read his shit, he couldn't care less: You didn't before either; and more importantly, you didn't *generate any click-through revenue* before either -- so he's not losing a single millionth of a cent from you just not *reading* him. (On the contrary, that's a fraction of a zillionth of a cent of *savings* for him, the bandwidth that you aren't using.)
But scaring off his advertisers, that *may* hit him where it hurts: In the wallet.

Another exit.
[link|http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20050516140036121|Groklaw]: Martin Brown, formerly at LinuxWorld [link|http://mcslp.com/?p=100|explains] his reasons for resigning on his blog. I believe it's worth noting, because we have all for a long time wondered about all the anti-Linux content in LinuxWorld, and now he gives us the explanation. It's good to know that the editors of the online LinuxWorld were not the ones doing it, and the stench in the air from it should not follow them. Here's the deal on content, as he explains it:

Saw said somewhere that Sys-CON licenses the name from IDG.
Nothing to back it up, though; IIRC, it was something like an "I assume..." on the blog of one of the people involved (Dee-Ann LeBlanc?) or something.
Anyway, FYI, FWIW. HTH.
