Better support for Windows printers in Tiger
The setup:
I was in class tonight giving my students a quiz. I have it set up so they take it online from a local server and their scores are e-mailed to me. I then print these out and hand them back so we can go over the quiz as soon as the last person has submitted their answers.
ANYWAY, I usually have my Powerbook with me (since it also has my gradebooks) and hook into our school's Exchange Webmail machine. I went to print the first set of scores out and realized that I hadn't configured a printer for this room yet since I installed Tiger on Friday.
Please note that the printer in this room is a LaserJet attached directly to a PC running Windows 98.
So, in the middle of the print dialog, I chose "Add Printer...", then "More Printers..." from the Printer browser. The PRINTER print server showed up in the browser, I selected it, typed in the name and password, selected the printer model and went right back to my Web browser and the still-open Print dialog to use my newly configured printer.
Sweet!
