Pssst - wanna buy a diamond?
We just launched a fancy new set of AJAX-style widgets to make it easy to quickly narrow search criteria for buying loose diamonds. Double sliders help you select a range and tell you how many items you've matched instantly via a JS initiated http request that is kicked off as soon as you move a slider. Needs Firefox or IE 6+.

Fancy Shmancy. More goodies like this to come this summer.

Works with Moz 1.7.5 too.
I like the "instant" feedback, but I wonder if sliders are the best way to limit the search. Older people, especially, can have trouble with fine mouse movements. I'm not sure what would be better though.
I love the fact that everything's done on one page. Few things are more annoying on the web to me than having to view half a dozen pages to do something relatively simple.
Well done!
Cheers, Scott.

There is a fallback
for browsers that are older or unsupported, but I think it is much uglier - each slider is replaced with a pair of fields and you have to keep clicking submit.
This is the web finally turning into a rich client/server application platform.

Or if your proxy is set to disable javascript
I'll have to play with the Privoxy settings. When I first went to it, I thought, "Okay, where's the whizzy cool shit?" Then I tried it on the other computer ... the one without the proxy. Oh, that whizzy cool shit.

Trouble spots
"Back" button broken in Moz 1.7.2 It was not immediately obvious to me that the sliders are ranges. Perhaps leaving some space to the left and to the right would make them more obviously recognizable. Or, start out with range between 1Kt and 4Kt (not sure what to do for color and such)
