looking for a home router that does pppoe
my connection is direct to the fiber dslam, no modem supplied. My mepis box is lacking in the networking department. The pppoe comes up but I think I need a local dhcp server running and cant seem to figure that out. Since the house is pre-wired a router would allow all my rooms to be hooked up. Any suggestions? thanx, bill

Ya know,
it might be worthwhile to apt-get install webmin-dhcp dhcp
webmin-dhcp is pretty easy to use...

NP...
...I guess I misunderstood your plight, though. I thought the mepis box was fine and you were setting up a home network with it as the router, dhcp, etc.
Hmmm.
I assume you ran pppoeconf from the Mepis system panel...
I know!

Then try apt-get?
You are always welcome to use my connection, of course, should you need it.

after getting ready to throw a dynix wan router down the hil
into the creek, took another look at the pppoe login and changed south.com south.net. All better now. Manyana transmission then scrubbie do basement to get out cat odure. Good vacuum, then bleach the fuck out of everything then a citric acid bath. Although chances are after I fix the transmission it wont work at all, I mind need a ride to pick up the smoker at your place, thanx, bill

Re: looking for a home router that does pppoe
I have the Netgear wireless router, which does PPPOE, 802.11g/b, has a 4 port hub, and plays nice with dynamic DNS. Reception is decent everywhere in the house.
