Was that WINS or DNS resolution?

And could you do that if you didn't have AD Driven DNS integration?

It is not a problem per say, it is just not the way it was meant to be done. The DNS and Name resoution police would just love to have Microsoft for lunch, they cross the line of annoyances quite often, enjoying every step the make.
