Before I tell you what we decided, I thank you all for your input. :)
I will comment on or reply to individual posts as well. I'm sorry I didn't get back in here last night, but I was having bad chest pains and they scared me. I believe it was heartburn though, based on location of pain, burning sensation with pain, and the fact that I've had acid reflux for awhile, although oddly enough, without much pain.
Anyway, John went with the Dobbs plan of doing it for $638.94 without the flush & Fill and without the thermostat. (thanks for correcting the spelling, Conrad).
Reasons for this decision were:
1) We checked out the 2nd Radiator place and they seemed fishy, plus they gave me contradicting information in the calls I did make.
2) John checked out the radiator site online that was posted here, but the privacy policy was bad, plus the fact that if it didn't fit or was wrong and you had to return it, you had to pay 25% of the cost as a penalty, which would have come to $90.00. And we were concerned that someone could send us a recored one rather than a new one, and cheat us, and we wouldn't know. So he decided to forego an online radiator.
3) When we compared the prices with Dobbs and the 3rd place, the cost was actually cheaper if we left out the flush & fill and thermostat, as opposed to the new one at the 3rd place. It was cheaper at the 3rd place to get a recored one, but John decided a new one with a lifetime warranty was better. Ultimately, I think the lifetime warranty part was what sold him on Dobbs, that and the trust we have in them from years of experience.
So we gave them the go ahead today. Also, John was very proud of me, for compiling all the various information, and figuring out a way to get $200.00 off the Dobbs original cost. We also have various Dobbs coupons that can and will apply to the cost as well, so it's a good deal.
Now I'll reply to some individual posts. :)
