'05 filers got a one year extension week before last
which is the small to medium sized companies. '04 filers seemed to all do their documentation in excel last year, so their all looking to step up on their automation. As for timing, their are monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements, just like all things corporate.
the big accounting firms are not wanting to do anything with providing compliance tools, since it entails liability and the controls are designed to be meta information about the accounting processes themselves.
