New An outsourcing risk that most ignore
Terrorists intended to kill software programmers in India:

People forget that Pakistan and India have a long history of conflict, and that conflict can turn bloody unexpectedly. While this plot was stopped, there will be other plots. And should the two countries go to war again, everyone's military simulations say that New Delhi will be hit by a nuclear bomb.

IMO planning for this contingency should be part of due diligence for any offshoring...

Ben

New Re: planning.
Well, you aren't a PHB, you generally know what you are talking about, so I doubt a PHB would heed your poignant advice on this issue.

New Better yet
If it happens you'll hear much wailing and gnashing of teeth as people claim that there is no way that anyone could have predicted that this could happen.

New Not quite
They'll say there was no way to plan for it. So they didn't bother. Besides, everyone else will be in the same boat, because they're outsourcing to the same place as you. You know this because you found out who your competitors went to and made a deal with the same guys.
