Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Show me your apache license
I recently hired a sysadmin.

He spent years at a company, being the primary sysadmin
for a small shop.

This company was aquired by a very large data provider.

This company has been in the news lately, it seems that
has "given up" a huge amount of personal information, and
have been getting some bad press recently.

When they bought this guy's company, they started the
traditional "move the data center to the home office".

During this process, the contact at the home office, ie: the
technical contact, also known as the "linux guru", was
responsible for gathering all the software licenses.

One request struck the sysadmin as very telling.

"Send me your 2 apache licenses for your 2 web servers".

RUN AWAY!!!! NOW!!!!
New And aren't they in Alpharetta?
And don't we know someone who just got a job there? Replacing the guy you just hired, maybe? Scary thought.

New Maybe
No further online discussion of locations, companies, etc, please.
New Did he?
Pilot fish: Here they are.

Shark: That's only one.

Pilot fish: Your point being?
New It sounds like he took that advice
Seeing as how he used to be there and you just hired him. :-)

Cheers,
Ben

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New Heh.
Fish: Here ya go.

Shark: This is the same license twice!

Fish: No, there's two. Look, there's the serial numbers.

Shark: Where?

Fish: Right there, top of the page. This one's number 1, and that one's number 2.

Shark: Oh. Aren't those awfully low numbers?

Fish: We were early adopters. Competitive advantage.

Shark: Ah. Wait, why are they in different corners?

Fish: Security measure. Anti-photocopy technique. That's how you know they're authentic. Defense-in-depth.

Shark: Oh yeah, I remember now. Glad I approved it.
