New So, 'greatest' == 'favourite' then?
I see Metropolis as a great film. Especially considering it was made in the 20s, its scope, its story, and even the special effects are dazzling. But geez, don't ask me to sit through it in one go...

What is the greatest film of all time? Hmm... no idea. I haven't even seen Citizen Kane yet.
On and on and on and on,

New "What is the greatest film of all time?"

New hehe
Know how that goes! I picked up Metropolis a couple months ago on DVD. I watched most of the movie on fast forward, just dropping back to normal speed to see the special effects :-)

I just wish they'd spent a bit to clean up the movie when they transferred it to DVD. The image quality was quite poor - it was obvious they made the transfer from VHS.

New According to my wife, it's "Gone With the Wind".
But then, she's also read the book half a dozen times as well. And, it is about the part of the US she was born in and where we live now.

I prefer The Grapes of Wrath myself.

But them, movies come in different flavors for different purposes, so there is no single greatest movie.

New If you don't have time for Gone With The Wind...
A woman only wants men she can't have, and the South gets trashed.
On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.
