Really? I thought that they were voting for a person to hold office, whose actions may or may not lead to a type of government which may be called "democracy". In stories in the Chicago Tribune these past two weeks, articles (locked inside their archives requiring pay-per-view) stated that many Iraqi candidates, especially the women, didn't even campaign; thus, a majority of the voting public didn't know what a candidate represented or what their platform was for the future.
I can't wait for Iraq to create a new theocratic government that kicks the US out of the country, just to see the look on the faces of all those neocons who have been chomping at the bit to go into Iraq and get them rebuilding contracts under the new "democratic government".
