But belated by a year or two can be good
Then you can hope that they've lost count...

They've lost count?
I dunno. Better that _I_ lose count, I think... And probably more likely!

Been there, done that
till my mom found out that I had been telling people I was older than I really was. For some reason she took exception to that.
Don't know how I did it, but for some reason I actually thought I was 2 years older than I am. This state of confusion lasted for a good 6 months before good old mom told me she didn't want people thinking *she* was older than she was.

I did the opposite
I apparently forgot I had had a birthday for about 6 months.

I'm usually close.
Since if I'm out I'm out by 1, I just look at the odd/even of the current year to correct. With other relatives, I do a "round to 10" thing, since I remember people's birth years, and then correct offsets.

I remember offsets
And when they change.
Then I remember a single age - mine! :-)

Ah, all the advantages of a 0 offset.
All except for 6 weeks or so, all I have to keep track off is the decades. On Jan 1, 1940, I was 0+, in 1950 I was 10+, in 1960 I was 20+, etc. 2005, I'm 65+.
Hey, I can do it in my head! :)

on this trip.
I return home today!
But not permanently...
