IMG is supposedly due to be removed in XHTML 2.0, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. And for now there are some known issues (primarily in Internet Explorer -- surprise, surprise) with rendering nested OBJECT tags, so one of the big selling points of the tag goes out the window.
