Something attacking FireFox??
Browsing around with FireFox 1.0 OS/2, I occasionally hit a site that does something to it. From that point on FireFox pegs the CPU 100% for about 3 seconds about every 10 seconds until I exit FireFox and restart it. I suppose it's something that's trying to find Windows?
As soon as I've got a site reliably identified I'll refer to it here.

PDF's drive mine bonkers.
Firefox has the same problem as IE when it comes to threading... i.e. neither is capable of true multitasking. (at least on winders)

OK, got one:
It's [link|http://messages.yahoo.com/?action=q&board=SCOX|Yahoo / SCOX]. Once I go there I get 100% CPU usage for about 3 to 4 seconds every 15 seconds. To stop it I have to exit FireFox and restart it.
Anybody else see this?

Maybe something to do with Java too.
Mozilla/W2k often acts weird for me if the Java Console (1.4.x that can't be unloaded while the browser is running) is loaded. It sounds similar to what's hitting AG.
Andrew: Does it happen if you use Privoxy or another proxy that blocks Java applets?
Cheers, Scott.

Well, if that ain't just somethin . . .
Firefox had marked the bookmarks file I'd copied from the most recent Mozilla "hidden", and had gone ahead and made numbered bookmark files up to bookmarks-6817.html! No wonder I was low on disk space, they took up a Gig and a quarter.
I made a new install of Firefox and it did the same thing. Marked bookmarks hidden and started making numbered ones. I unhid it and copied the highest numbered one to bookmarks.html and this activity seems to have stopped, as has the 100% CPU problem.
Weird enough.

Nope, as soon as I mucked around a bit . . .
. . . at one of these troublesom sites, hidden bookmarks file and numbered bookmark files. The CPU problem apparently doesn't show up until you have a whole lot of numbered bookmarks.

OK, I unhid bookmarks and cleaned up again . .
. . and now I can't get it to hide the bookmarks and make numbered copies no matter how hard I try. Sheeeeeeeeeesh. Well I'll keep watching it.
