It looks just like a gaddam set of lakes and rivers were nearby landing spot. Too bad the probe didn't land in a lake[1]. It was designed to float. But I did read somewhere that landing in liquid carried more risks, so perhaps it ain't so bad.

They selected the landing spot because of radio and wind measurment issues, not because of the topography. But it appears they got semi-lucky in that it landed near the border of "lakes"[1] and land. Thus, it saw both on the way down rather than just one or the other.

Totally Cool! I hope they send a rover/boat in my lifetime.

[1] Nature of the lake-like things is not known. It might not even be liquid. "Lake" is just used for lack of a better word right now.
