New Sounds like a stripped down version of Crystal Quest
an extremely addictive game I played on a Mac in the late 1980s. Got a PC version of it called XQuest, written by some guy over in England. He got sued by the arcade game company so you couldn't find it on BBS boards afterwards; I think I Googled "XQuest" a few years back and found that somebody was promoting a sequel to it.
