New Amazon Hiring - in Dallas?
A recruiter contacted me for a $100,000 C++ job. I assumed it was Dallas, but knew it was probably too good to be true. This is the recuiter that found me my current job.

Sure enough, they are recruiting for Amazon.com in Seattle. I guess the lure of $100,000 for a C++ coder job would draw someone from Dallas. Until they priced a home.

I want the opposite. I want to live in a community with $120,000 4 bedroom homes and not have to make so much money.

$100k in a market with a median home price of $130k?

The salaries are about the same in Seattle. But the median home prices are double.

I don't know what you're bitching about but you've no right to.

New Eh?
I didn't read it that way at all. I read it as he heard about a job offering $100k but didn't know it was in Seattle until later in the process.

His last line tells me he's not looking for $100k in an area with $120k houses - rather less money but affordable housing.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Ah, guess I read it wrong
since the 'zon is opening new dev offices in various locations around the US and abroad.

New No 100K jobs in Dallas
The best most people are doing these days with really good skills is about 70k a year in Dallas.

Most are getting less than 70k. Some developers are getting as little as $35k a year.

Funny, but there are a lot of $300,000 - $500,000 homes for sale here, in foreclosure. And the "low end" of the market is taking off. $80,000 to $115,000 homes.
