New Anyone know about diabetes?
My father is visiting from out of town. We've been passing a nasty bug around and he just got it today. Major symptom is you can't keep anything down for more than five minutes. Including water.

He controls his diabetes with diet, which means he doesn't have an insulin kit and needs to eat regularly or his blood suger gets off and he gets the shakes.

We've got him trying some gumdrops for the sugar hit, but are hoping for something to control the nausea enough to get some food in him. Have tried ginger-ale, it came back up. He took some pills earlier for the headache, they came back up. What can you give soemone for nausea that won't come right back up?

New This sounds like it could get out of control
Quickly.
Call a Dr or go to the hospital.
New Already called the doctor
We're already doing what he said, getting the sugary stuff into him. If he's still got the shakes in an hour or so we're taking him in for IV fluids.

He's had it long enough he and my mother are pretty sure when it's time to panic. Only problem is he never gets sick. My mother thinks this is the first time he's vomited since he had a heart attack back in '86.

New For Nausea
Try Ginger pills. They work for me, to keep nausea down, and don't usually upset my stomach or come right back up.

Give that a shot, they are found at most vitamin stores and drug stores.

New I'd suggest Some form of HOT herbal tea.
Particularly, the sleepytime kind of stuff without caffiene. Or some hot Chicken broth without any fat in it or Vegetable broth. Beef broth seems to have negative results.

I find that HOT Clear Beverages and Broths seem to stay down better.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]

New Well, he survived
The candy kept him stable while he got 12 hours sleep. This morning he was fine. My wife just dropped them off at the airport this afternoon. I hope he doesn't get stuck at the airport.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you’re on.
